At Cloud4Wi we ensure the best practices regarding collection, use and storage of personal data and we provide you with the latest information considering any privacy concerns.

Here are the steps we take to protect data:

1) Smart-places.org:

Limited Collection

Cloud4Wi only collects data needed to provide analytics services. We do not collect or use data in adverse manner for the following purposes: employment eligibility, promotion or retention, credit eligibility, health care treatment eligibility, and insurance eligibility pricing or terms. Collected MAC addresses, personal information, or unique device information, are de-personalized and de-identified.

Enabling opt out

Mobile location analytics companies that have agreed to Future of Privacy Forum’s Mobile Location Analytics Code of Conduct will honor any requests from consumers to opt-out of having their location linked to their mobile device MAC address. Consumers can opt out by visiting www.smart-places.org and entering their phones’ Wi-Fi or Bluetooth MAC address.

2) Safe Harbor Privacy Policy:

Cloud4wi is also Compliant with Safe Harbor Privacy Policy, which reflects the company’s adherence to the U.S.-EU Safe Harbor Framework developed by the Department of Commerce in coordination with the European Commission and the U.S.-Swiss Safe Harbor Framework developed by the Department of Commerce in coordination with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner of Switzerland.

What is the US-EU Safe Harbor Framework?

The European Commission’s Directive on Data Protection prohibits the transfer of personal data from countries in the European Union to destinations, including the United States, that do not meet the European “adequacy” standard for privacy protection. The U.S. Department of Commerce – in consultation with the European Commission and the Swiss Data Protection Commissioner – has developed a “Safe Harbor” framework to allow U.S. businesses to receive and process personal data from the EU countries and Switzerland provided that they put in place certain privacy protections.
